The Wiehle-Reston East Metro station will be home to a multi-level, underground parking facility located on the north side of the station. This facility will provide critical access to the Silver Line for commuters and help all Metro riders connect with other local transportation systems, including Dulles International Airport.
The Wiehle-Reston East parking facility on the north side of the station will be the site of:
A 2,300-car Park and Ride facility will be available for commuters at the Wiehle-Reston East station.
Fairfax County will operate the commuter parking facility similar to its operations at other Metro stations in the county. Fees will be collected upon exit, from 10:30 a.m. to Metrorail system closing. Payment will be accepted using SmarTrip® cards and credit cards. Parking is free on weekends and federal holidays.
There are 253 reserved parking spaces available for a cost of $65 per month. LAZ Parking is handling reserved parking permits, and more information is available here.
The bike room at Wiehle-Reston East is operated by Fairfax County and will be their first enclosed, secure bicycle parking facility with a capacity for more than 200 bicycles. The bike room will feature ample parking with a combination of floor mounted bicycle racks as well as vertical space-saver racks. In-room amenities include bench seating, parking for oversized bikes and bikes with trailers, and two ”fix it” stations featuring a work stand, an assortment of commonly used bike tools, and an air pump.
Access to the room will be controlled electronically. Each subscriber will be issued an access key fob, which will allow access to the room 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week. You must subscribe to use this facility.
The membership cost to use this facility is $75 a year, which includes a one-time $15 non-refundable fee for the security device and application processing. After the first year, users will be charged only $60 a year. Find out more from Fairfax County here.
A 10-bay bus terminal inside the Wiehle-Reston East parking facility will serve the Reston and Herndon areas. Fairfax Connector will provide service along the following routes from the garage: 505, 507, 551, 552, 554, 558, 559, 950, 951, 952, 980, 981, 983, RIBS 2, RIBS 3 and RIBS 4.
Bus service to Dulles Airport will depart from the parking facility. Bus connections from the end of the Silver Line to the airport will be provided by Fairfax Connector Routes 981 and 983 and the Washington Flyer’s Silver Line Express.
Fairfax Connector’s Route 983 will connect riders to the National Air and Space Museum’s Udvar-Hazy Center.
There will be some bus service departing from the south side of the Wiehle-Reston East Metrorail station as well. Loudon County Transit will use bus bays on the south side of the station, as well as Fairfax Connector Routes 553, 557, 585, 924, 926, 929 and 985.
Kiss & Ride:
The Kiss & Ride facility at Wiehle-Reston East can be accessed from the west side of the parking garage off of Reston Station Boulevard. The Kiss & Ride will accommodate passenger pick-up and drop-off, shuttles, taxis and short-term parking.
